Acute care is the treatment necessary to alleviate the symptoms or pain. In regards to spinal care, it is the time necessary to take enough pressure off of the spinal nerve to allow the patient to become asymptomatic. Treatment lengths can vary from 1 visit to 8 weeks depending on the degree of pressure on the spinal nerve. Ice, stretching, mobilization, soft tissue techniques, and spinal adjustments are utilized during this phase of care.
